Yangmugang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Xishan (West Hill) of Yangmugang, Shangzhi County, Heilongjiang. It was named by Zhong Weicheng et al. in 1965.
Lithology and Thickness
Claystone and Sandstone. Dominated by gray-black silty and clayey slates, gray tuffaceous and silty slates, intercalated with gray-yellow fine-grained feldspar-rich sandstone and pebbly tuffaceous sandstone, with more sandstone-conglomerate and conglomerate in the lower part. Thickness 355 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unknown: Its relationship with the underlying Tangjiatun Fm is unclear
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Lower Permian Qinglongtun Fm
Regional extent
Distributed in the areas such as Yangmugang of Shangzhi County as well as Zhaohudian and Ershiwuhu of Acheng City, it is 1100 m thick at Ershiwuhu, and 214 m thick at Yanshou County.

Fossils
The fine-grained sandstone in the lower part of the type section yields abundant fossil Plants Neoggerathiopsis subangusta, N. latifolia, N. theodori, Zamiopteris cf. glossopteroides, Neuropteris orientalis, N. dichotoma, N. mrassiensis, Angaridium cf. mongolicum, Crassinervia kuznethkiana, Stenophyllum uninervium, Annularia sp. and Paracalamites sp.
